As the youngest child in a family of eight children, I grew
up asking unusual questions like “what if
clothes updated themselves to always be in style?” or “what
if the fridge could automatically restock itself
with ice cream when it runs low?” The answers to these
questions
continue to elude me, but I have never stopped considering
the
possibilities.
I was lured to HCI by a deep desire to provide effortless
access to the things people want, when they want them. I
am interested in finding new and creative ways to implement
context and location-aware
technology using both the Web and mobile devices. I am
currently
intrigued by medical devices and the possibilities of mobile
healthcare monitoring.
I received a BFA in Computer Graphics from Syracuse
University
in May 2000. Upon graduating, I worked in project management
at a
large interactive marketing firm. It was there I first
dabbled in
information architecture and fell in love with flow charts.
I spent
the last three years getting back to my creative roots,
developing websites and designing interfaces for Smith College.
When I'm not aspiring to make the world a friendlier place,
I like hiking, comedic dancing, eating cheese and
shouting
"poor user experience!" in completely inappropriate
situations.
